Offshore Wind
The United States has set a goal of producing 30 GW of offshore wind energy by 2030, enough to power over 22 millions homes! Nearly a dozen states have announced goals to exceed the federal government’s objective of 30 GW. The UBC has been a leader providing the most skilled and professional workforce for the United States’ first commercial scale offshore wind farm, Vineyard Wind I.
The United Brotherhood of Carpenters has led the charge to ensure that our members have the skills and training not only to meet but exceed owner and contractor expectations. The UBC owns a training facility in Hammonton, NJ that will be our hub for wind training, including our very own dive school. One example of how the UBC has led the charge was by developing a Global Wind Organization (GWO) training program that is third-party certified and required for all offshore wind work. This grants us the ability to train any of our members at a moment’s notice at no cost to our contractors. This type of resourcefulness is one of the many things that sets the UBC apart from the competition.
